Scotland United for Climate Action Petition

We are at a pivotal point in Scotland’s climate journey. The Scottish Government must take fast and fair action to get Scotland’s climate progress back on track.  Reducing Scotland’s domestic emissions is significant in helping our global neighbours who suffer from the climate crisis, particularly when they did little to cause this problem.

Prayers for Peace in the Middle East – Monthly Zoom Meeting

Join Christian Aid and their partners on 24 February as they continue to pray for peace in the Middle East. In February we will welcome the Very Rev Canon Richard Sewell, the Dean of St George’s College Jerusalem.

With a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas welcomed, sustainable peace is not possible until the illegal occupation of Gaza, and the West Bank – including East Jerusalem – is ended and Palestinians and Israelis are treated as equals.

Trees of Hope – Mark Christian Aid’s 80th Year

Would your church plant a Tree of Hope to mark our 80th anniversary? Trees are a beautiful representation of hope for the future.

To commemorate your church’s commitment to Christian Aid, you could choose a tree from a local garden centre, or ask gardeners in your church for a sapling.

The Woodland Trust have also agreed to supply free trees to churches wishing to commemorate their commitment to Christian Aid. You can apply to them directly, and then let us know when you’ve planted your tree! Trees come in sets of 15 or more, so it’s a great way to get other churches and schools in your community involved.

Anxious? Grieving? Full of doubt?

Did you know the Prayer Hub features prayers and prayer prompts to guide you based on how you are feeling?
From grief to gratefulness, and hope to anxiety, you can find support for your prayer life, and ways to pray for those you love. More prayers will be added every month so keep the page bookmarked and let us know if there is an emotion you’d like to see added.

How baby Rosie teaches Empathy

Roots for Empathy comes from an evidence-based research showing that through their teaching and the understanding of emotions, levels of aggression and bullying come down, whilst levels of pro-social behaviours –kindness, caring, including others, and empathy – go up. it is run by Action for Children in Scotland, and involves school children getting to know a baby and her parents over an extended period.

Funding to Support your church

The new year is a great opportunity to evaluate what your church is doing, and what projects you might need support for in the coming year.
Benefact Trust’s Methodist Grants Programme, funded primarily by donations from Methodist Insurance PLC, seeks to enhance the mission and ministry of the Methodist Church in the UK and Ireland.

The programme provides grants to Methodist churches to run building development projects that focus on church growth (both numerically and spiritually), community engagement and improving accessibility. Grants are also available for repair and maintenance projects that are essential for the ongoing mission and ministry of an organisation.
