We’re looking forward to celebrating Action for Children Sunday with you on the second Sunday in July. But you can hold a special worship service for Action for Children whenever you like. This year’s theme is ‘Driven by love, we take action for children.’
The Action for Children Sunday newsletter and worship booklet are now available on our website. Just visit actionforchildren.uk/faithFR and scroll to ‘Action for Children Sunday’. The worship material includes Bible readings, hymns and real-life stories of how church donations help children.
We’d also welcome your feedback. So, please email karis.kolawole@actionforchildren.org.uk

Dear Archbishop Leo
On behalf of the people called Methodist across Scotland I write to extend our condolences and prayers to our siblings in Christ in the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland, and to the members of the Bishops
Conference on the news today of the death of the Bishop of Rome, His Holiness Pope Francis.
Pleased be assured of our prayers in the coming days. And may Francis rest in peace and rise again in glory.
I also share the official statement from the Methodist Church in Britain
https://www.methodist.org.uk/about/news/a-statement-on-the-death-of-his-holiness-pope-francis/
which includes this prayer
Almighty God,
we thank you that you continue to call disciples to represent you on earth.
We recognise this call in the life, faith and ministry of Pope Francis.
We give thanks for the unique gifts with which you blessed him for this task, and for his obedience in fulfilling all that you asked of him.
Thank you for receiving Francis into the eternal home that you have been preparing for him.
We pray that all who mourn his loss will be comforted and for the Conclave that will elect his successor.
We hold before you the Roman Catholic Church and pray that we might continue to work together for the unity of your Church and for peace, justice and compassion in your world.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
God Bless
James

The situation following the earthquake in Myanmar remains desperate. More than 3,400 people have died and hundreds of people are still missing. Many more have no access to the safe shelter, clean water, food and medical care they need to survive. The Methodist Church in Britain remains in contact with our partner, the Methodist Church Upper Myanmar, offering prayers and solidarity.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has launched an appeal to help with the relief effort. Christian Aid (of which the Methodist Church was a founding partner) is one of the 15 leading aid charities that make up the DEC.
