We look forward to seeing all who are gathering in Stirling next weekend for part or all of the weekend. Please do register here if you are planning to come and have not yet done so. This will help to ensure the venue can be arranged to be comfortable for all. Here is the outline programme.
There are a few final pieces of information below for all who are attending plus one for those who can’t…
Sunday Worship – if you are not able to come to Stirling, the closing worship on Sunday 22nd September will be live-streamed on the Scottish Methodist Gathering YouTube Channel, starting at 11am. The link for the service is here. The service can be accessed any time after 11am as well. It is likely to last a little more than an hour, but a prayer of dismissal will be offered around 12noon for those who have to leave then. Please bear with us if timings are not precise for such a large gathering! The order of service for the act of worship is available – please email scotmethgathering@gmail.com if you would like to receive a copy.
Donations/Offering: All costs of the Gathering are being covered by the district, (including the lunch on Saturday, which must be pre-booked). If you would like to make a donation towards the costs involved, there will be baskets available at the Help Desk where card payments can also be made.
The Sunday service will include a cash-only offering for the Fund for Human Need, a small Methodist charity which aims to relieve hardship.
Seeking a reporter: The Gathering would be glad to provide a ‘Press’ hat and pass to anyone who would be willing to take photos, videos and collect feedback from participants during the weekend. Please email Janet at scotmethgathering@gmail.com if you are interested in this role!
Travel and parking: The Gathering is seeking to be as ‘green’ an event as possible so we do encourage you to travel by public transport where possible. The Golden Lion hotel is not far from the bus and train stations in Stirling. For those who do need to bring a car, please try to car-share where possible. The hotel has limited parking for residents only, but as well as the station car park (which may be full), the Thistle Centre multi-storey car park is not far away and there are two ‘Park and Ride’ services into the town centre. More information can be found here. The Golden Lion hotel is at 8-10 King Street, FK8 1BDH.
NB Please note that there will be some road closures around the hotel on Saturday as Stirling Pride is holding a festival in King Street. Also there are reports of current delays on the Stirling exit of the M80 from the Glasgow direction, due to subsidence.
