A resource for Churches to run a service at the start of the school year to support the children, young people and staff members in your congregations.
“Our society marks the return to school in so many ways, so why not God’s church? For many churches Back to School with God provides a valuable opportunity to celebrate new beginnings and commit our children and young people to God. The aims of Back to School with God are: to heighten awareness that God goes with us into school; to reassure children and school staff that the church family cares and prays for them; to challenge Christian pupils and staff to be lights for Jesus in school, and to raise awareness of year-round schools prayer. The service can help a church in its mission to its community, giving opportunity to invite parents and friends of children who have attended holiday clubs, or midweek clubs – or even by inviting along local school staff if there is a connection with a local school. The service is designed for churches big and small, with or without technology!
Back to School with God services take place across the country in all denominations, however not everyone is aware of the resource. Do check it out at www.suscotland.org.uk/bsg. A copy of the 2023 service is there to take a peek at – registration will be required to access the 2024 service outline. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch: Elizabeth.mcdowall@suscotland.org.uk.”
