Learning Network Events

The Learning Network seeks to facilitate a variety of gathered events in the District and local events in Circuits according to needs and Connexional requirements. Bespoke training is available on request and additional opportunities are available for informal learning and support.

This Core Learning session accompanies the Essential preparation (which takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes) and Handbook (a resource for further study) to equip all involved in safeguarding roles who require training to this level. A list of those who are required to attend is available here.

Youth & Family Ministries Forum – Nov, Darnley’s Coffee House, 18 Bow St, Stirling FK8 1BS, Stirling, 11am-2pm, lunch provided. INVITE ONLY
An opportunity for those, in paid roles or significant volunteer leadership roles, who are shaping work with children and families, young people, or developing community work across the district to gather together.

Trainer Refresher Training – 22nd Feb,
Stirling Methodist Church, 10.30am-3.30pm, lunch provided.
This day is for all Trainers who are delivering the Foundation Module in Creating Safer Space. Whether you have been training for several years or more, or only just started, you are welcome to attend. It aims to refresh knowledge and understanding and delivery of the new foundation materials.

Circuit Stewards Induction Training8th & 15th Feb, Forth Valley, 10.30am-4pm, lunch provided.
The role of circuit steward is one of the key lay ministries in Methodism and so deserves the best support and training possible to do the work effectively. This material has been designed to help strengthen the stewards’ work through activity, conversation and reflection. This 2 day course covers two of the four modules of this training course, with some additional reading and optional homework following each session. It is designed for new circuit stewards as part of their induction programme (plus the Creating Safer Space Foundation Module 2016). This course, or elements of it, can also be used by existing circuit stewards for continuing professional development.

Bible Month Event – 21st Mar
, Perth Methodist Church, 10.30am-3.30pm, lunch included.
Bible Month is an opportunity for churches to spend 30 days focused on a single biblical book. In 2020, Bible Month will focus on the book of Ruth. In preparation for this, we are hosting a district training day in Perth and our keynote speaker is Professor Tom Greggs. This event will help those involved in preaching, leading worship, leading small groups, etc, to consider how the will utilise materials in their contexts as they prepare for Bible Month in June.
