Brief History
On Advent Sunday, 29th November 2015, St Anne’s Scottish Episcopal Church, Dunbar and Dunbar Methodist Church signed a Declaration of Ecumenical Welcome and Commitment which stated that:

“… the Rector and people of St Anne’s, Dunbar, following a period of increasing fellowship with our brothers and sisters of Dunbar Methodist Church… invite Methodist members to share in  the ministry and mission of St Anne’s, to worship and receive Holy Communion, to be part of the decision making of the church and to contribute to the mission and ministry of the wider church in so far as they are able; [St Anne’s] undertake to give pastoral care to all those who desire it; invite ministers of the Methodist Church to take part in leading worship; incorporate the riches of Methodist worship as appropriate; include this ecumenical declaration as an integral part of our profile within the wider church and community”.

John Wesley preached at the Methodist Church in Dunbar on 21 occasions. In his diary entry on May 17th 1770 he wrote “In the evening I preached at the new house at Dunbar, the cheerfullest in all the Kingdom.”.
